Experiment Extreme is on Channel Thirteen (PBS)

My student film - Experiment Extreme has been selected to screen at Reel 13 Shorts, and is the winner short of the week. My animated short will be broadcast on TV, Channel Thirteen/WNET (PBS) New York - channel 13.1, Thirteen’s weekly Saturday night programming block of classic and independent cinema.

Thank you very much for whoever watched and supported my film all around the world. This has been dedicated to all the traditional animators around the world. Thanks to my pupies, they still got it.

11 Second Club (Unbelievable)

The track for this scene was chosen from an older entry of 11 Second Club. Every scene starts with thumbnailing. During the planning, I mostly took Glen Keane's planning for animation notes and Ollie Johnston's acting notes as referance.

Here is the line-test thumbnail version. First test to give a general idea of what is up.

Started with thumbnailing. I investigated the posing for the several idea of acting. The last thumbnail decision for the chose of acting, for this animation.

11 Second Club (I thought)

A scene for lipsync and acting just after graduated Vancouver Film School. The design of the character took a day, but I mostly spent the time on planning and thumbnailing (Thanks to the masters Frank & Ollie). To find the proper acting, thumbnailing process took a week and a half, but then the rest came up really easy.

These are the last thumbnails I ended up with for this scene after a deep search. I line-tested the timing with the thumbnails to have a rough preview of the scene. Some parts of the scene changed during animating, so the final is a bit different than the thumbnails.

Bear Walk (3/4 Walk Cycle)

According to Richard Williams, the master animator and animation director of Roger Rabbit, a walk cycle is one of the most important and difficult stuff to animate. I recently wanted to focus on a walk cycle for an extra practice, but this time instead of being stick to the regular profile view, I went for 3/4 view walk cycle. It was tough and challenging. More importantly it was a great opportunity to study the prespective animation.

Another different point that I tried in this walk cycle was that I used Art Babbitt 's way, starting with down position - weight on the foot, instead of starting with contact position, which is the usual and common way.

Barbie Animation Commercials

A studio project, traditionally animated, live action-animation Barbie commercial that I participated couple of months ago. I animated the last scene, and also participated in the clean up and the effect animation (lights and shadows) processes.

After this commercial had been checked and approved by Mattel, during the beginning of the summer, it was aired on TVs in Greece.

It is proud to animate this worldwide famous blonde chick :)

In this one I only participated in rough-clean phase, tightening up the rough frames for clean up process (P.S. animated her hair though), as well as her lights and shadows animation.

Also a studio, and group project. When Mattel said "go!", this was aired on TVs in Turkey during summer. God Bless traditional animation, paper and pencil...
